Gday folks
Been a long time between drinks, hope you're all keeping well. It's been a nice stay for me at home for a bit, spent a lot of time at airports at the start of the year traveling around launching Needs & Wants, so good to see some trees and eat home cooked meals while the chilly westerlys start to blow in towards Vegas town.
But it's now time to get back on the live scence with a headline show at The Troubadour on Friday July 10. I've put together a 'power trio' for this show featuring longtime cohorts Father Dave Gilbert (drums) and Dan Mansfield (keys), and I'll be picking up bass and guitar duties where needed. Will also wrangle a horn section along to do the new album justice. There will be plenty of tracks off the newie in the setlist, plus we've dusted off some old classics from the previous 3 albums so you can sing along.
It's gonna be a fun night so hope you can make it. My chum from Melbourne Jordie Lane will be launching his new album 'Sleeping Patters', and he's one talented fellow. And Youngbuck member Dan Parsons will be opening the night in duo mode and will show off some of his new tracks from his as yet unreleased debut album. For $12 pre-sale/$15 on the door that's mighty fine value for a night out methinks.
See you at the bar.

Hi folks
Well 2008 almost at a close, hope it's been a good year for you so far and the silly season well under control. I've had a productive year, touring for the Union Bars album, recording my 4th solo record, and releasing Land of The Powerful Owl with my bluegrass buddies The Wilson Pickers.
My new record called Needs & Wants will be released on March 7, followed by an east coast album launch tour. The album was recorded in Melbourne in July with producer Marty Brown, and is a bit of a departure in that it is piano based and has something of a soul flavour. Was awesome fun making this record with a great bunch of people, and looking forward to its release and subsequent touring - more fun i reckon. Hope you can join in.
The first single Lover is now up on MYSPACE, as well as the DIY film clip - gotta love those macs! Please feel free to leave a comment regarding the song on myspace, and if its a good one i'll do my best to reply - if its a bad one i'm deleting it alright! Just kidding, free speech and all.
All the best to you and your families, hope to see you in 2009,
Andrew

G'day folks,
Been a while since I last posted anything, but have actually been real busy, not holidaying in the Caribbean as some may have thought. The big news is I have album No 4 in the can! I have stuck to my album a year schedule, although this one looks like coming out early next year so we'll have to sit tight. More news on the as yet untitled new record to follow. But I'm quietly excited...
In the meantime I have a record coming out with my bluegrass mates The Wilson Pickers. It's a great little record called 'Land of the Powerful Owl' which we recorded in 3 days late last year, featuring 11 original compositions of our brand of bluegrass inspired music. The band is basically a collaboration of mates Sime Nugent, Danny Widdicombe, Ben Salter, John Bedggood and myself. We have already toured with The Panics and The Black Keys, and we're really looking forward to launching the album proper in October. For a sneak preview go to www.myspace.com/thewilsonpickers
That's about it for now, there's a free show coming up on July 20 at the Brisbane Powerhouse with my band and Dan Parsons supporting, and then a return to the annual Gympie Muster in August which will be a hoot.
Til then, stay well, Andrew.
